The Cambridge Pathway - From nursery through to pre-university

Knowledge, Understanding, and higher order thinking skils

Cambridge programmes combine an emphasis on mastering subjects in depth with the development skills for study and work in the future. We value deep subject knowledge as well as the conceptual understanding that helps students make links between different aspects of a subject. We also encourage students to develop higher order thinking skills – problem solving, critical thinking, independent research, collaboration and presenting arguments. These are transferable skills that will last a lifetime, preparing students for their future lives. They also make learning enjoyable and rewarding.

Cambridge Global Perspectives

Cambridge Global Perspectives is a unique, transformational programme that helps students at every stage of school education develop outstanding transferable skills, including critical thinking, research and collaboration. The programme is for students aged 5 to 19 years, leading seamlessly from Cambridge Primary through to Cambridge Advanced.

A unique feature of Cambridge Global Perspectives is the dedicated Online Learning area – free to schools that offer the subject.

Choice and flexibility for schools and students

Cambridge schools tailor the Cambridge international curriculum to their culture and ethos, and their students’ needs. We offer over 70 subjects at Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge O Level, and over 55 subjects at Cambridge International AS & A Level. This allows Cambridge schools to build a curriculum which offers real choice – both of subject and subject combination.

Towards this end the school endeavors to provide large and dedicated teaching staff with a wide range of skills and interests, a varied and wide choice of activities academic, aesthetic and athletic, an environment enriched with the excitement of discovery, challenge and competitiveness, and discipline based on the belief that responsibility comes before freedom.

Global Community

Nearly a million students in over 10,000 schools.
A Cambridge school is part of a global community. Cambridge programmes and qualifications are taught to almost a million learners, in over 10,000 schools, across 160 countries. We actively support our schools and teachers, helping them achieve the best outcomes for their students. In turn, our schools give us invaluable feedback from a range of different perspectives – principal, teacher, student and parent – to make sure our qualifications remain relevant, world class, recognised and respected.

Professional and student learning communities
Cambridge teachers are connected. Through our professional learning communities – both online and face to face – teachers share views, information and resources, learning from each other. Our regular professional development events bring experts and teachers together, providing opportunities to expand knowledge and pool experience. Subject communities use the discussion forums on our School Support Hub. Our Cambridge Global Perspectives community uses an online learning area where teachers and students can collaborate with their counterparts in different parts of the world as part of the programme.

Teaching and Learning

Supporting Cambridge learner and teacher attributes
We are committed to providing a high level of support for teachers delivering the Cambridge Pathway. Our learner and teacher attributes – confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged – are powerful, aspirational and inspiring. They are built into all of our syllabuses and qualifications to ensure they are relevant, challenging and productive.
We provide a wide range of support for teachers so that they can give their learners the best possible preparation for Cambridge programmes and qualifications.
An education founded on these attributes inspires in students a love of learning that leads to success in the classroom, in examinations, and throughout a career. They also create skilful and innovative teachers, with a desire for continuous, professional improvement.

Learning to Learn
Our research shows that good learning habits matter. We encourage Cambridge students to reflect on their learning so that they are able to build on experience and plan ahead. They will be confident, innovative and resourceful, secure in their knowledge yet open to new ideas and opinions. They will also be responsible – to themselves, and to others. These habits lay the foundations for productive study and employment, and are actively promoted and encouraged by Cambridge syllabuses and qualifications.

Assessment

A lifelong passport for study and work
Assessment has two important roles:

  1. to prove what a student has learnt
  2. to improve a student’s understanding and skills.

Good assessment lies at the heart of a good education. Our assessments are designed to be fair, valid, reliable and practicable, so that every Cambridge exam provides a true picture of a student’s ability, wherever and whenever the exam was taken. This means our assessments have real, lasting value and can be a lifelong passport to further study or employment.

Accurately assessing learning
Our end-of-programme assessments give students focus, motivation and a challenge. We assess what is of greatest value to our students – deep subject knowledge, conceptual understanding and higher order thinking skills. Assessment is in English and is accessible to speakers of English as a second or foreign language. Our flexible, linear assessment structure maximises teaching and learning time, encouraging a strong grasp of the subject being studied. This helps to support new thinking, and encourages cross-curricula connections.

Dr. Nadeem Tarin

Chairman, Managing Committee

Our school’s objective is to continue being recognized as a torchbearer of leading education methods and an institution that has students defining a future not only for them but for the world as well. The values, environment, and investment we put into our children today will help them achieve greater heights and create the unimaginable. My sincere thanks to the school’s principal, teachers, and other staff members without whom these successes- big and small is not possible. They not only teach the children the subjects but also inculcate values of commitment, zealousness, and pride in everything they do.

Mr. Mairaj Mohd Khan

Principal

To me, the very purpose of quality education is character building. Children are malleable material who can be shaped into persons of excellence by their teachers. As responsible teachers, we have to be exemplary to our students if we want them to be assets to the society and the nation. I feel it is important for every child to enjoy a sense of achievement. Every child should be encouraged to perform to the fullest ability and due importance should be given to learning in areas beyond academics. An institution should be a living place that shapes children’s lives and builds their character. Therefore to assess the school’s performance only by its high academic scores is not sufficient, it is equally important for a school to be a place for happy children with a love for learning and sound value system. To achieve these objectives we need to work jointly with the parents of our pupils to create a climate for open exchange of views and experiences, supporting each other quest for quality on all fronts.
